Graphic design isn’t free. You haven’t convinced a landscaper to cut your grass because they “like to do it,” nor have you wrangled a plumber into fixing a leaking pipe for free, “it’ll probably only take you a few minutes.” Any project that I take on takes away from something else and my time is super valuable.
My degree wasn’t free, software/computers/iPads aren’t free, printing equipment isn’t free, you get my point. Asking for free or cheap for any designer is an insult. None of us want exposure or a great opportunity for “future work” (that never happens). I pour my heart into my work and I do my best to give an idea on cost based on the amount of time it’ll take me. If you’re not down with that, I’d recommend trying your own creative hand.
